The Logistics Challenge
Exporting heavy machinery from a UAE Free Zone to the wider GCC involves strict regulatory compliance. Because the goods were stored in a Free Zone (which is considered outside the UAE customs mainland), exporting them required specialized “Free Zone Transit” documentation. Furthermore, commercial escalators are exceptionally bulky and irregularly shaped, requiring specialized lashing and securing on flatbed trailers for overland cross-border transport. The client needed the delivery staggered over three weeks to match the mall’s installation schedule, requiring precise timeline management.

- Free Zone Export Declarations: Our team handled all paperwork required by JAFZA and Dubai Customs to process the outbound shipments. We ensured that the original certificates of origin and commercial invoices were properly attested, a crucial requirement for seamless border crossings within the GCC.
- Overland Freight Management: Instead of sea freight, overland trucking was chosen for its speed. We sourced specialized heavy-duty flatbed trailers capable of handling the immense weight and length of the assembled escalator trusses. Our team supervised the loading and lashing process at the JAFZA warehouse to ensure maximum safety.
- Cross-Border Customs Clearance: We stationed our local clearing agents at the GCC land borders. Because we had pre-cleared the documentation and ensured exact alignment between the cargo and the paperwork, the trucks passed through the border checkpoints with zero friction.
- Just-In-Time Delivery: We staggered the dispatch of the 24 escalators over the requested three-week period. This “just-in-time” delivery meant the client’s installation teams received the exact units they needed on specific days, eliminating the need for expensive on-site storage at the destination.
